Live Music by El Patron Traffic Officer Patrick "Dave" Rooney, P#3954, has been a Metro Police Officer for over 18 years. He is an avid motorcycle rider and has been a Traffic Officer for the past 9 years. Dave is a devoted husband and father. He has also been a Boy Scout Leader for 10 years, giving of his personal time to provide others with leadership and guidance. On March 22nd, Dave was admitted to Sunrise Mtn. View Hospital with a very serious life threatening illness, that was found to have started from a staph infection. Dave was in ICU at Mtn. View Hospital for the past four weeks, until it was determined that he would need more specialized care and was transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ on April 19th. Dave is still in a very serious condition and will remain at the Mayo Clinic until his illness can be diagnosed and fully treated. The medical bills for Dave's care are very large and continue to grow day by day. There has been an account set up in Dave's name at Bank of America for anyone that would like to help Dave and his family with financial donations. To further assist Dave and his family, there is a benefit motorcycle ride planned for Sunday, June 7th. The event will include a raffle, with all the proceeds going to the Rooney Family to help offset medical costs. Anyone wishing to donate prizes for the raffle in the form of products or services can contact Sgt. Dave Schvaneveldt at (702) 303-7429.
